Reciprocity Agreements between Louisiana and other state Licensing Boards
- Reciprocity ONLY applies to an exemption of a trade exam, it does not waive any other license requirement.
- Contractor has not been sanctioned for violations (disciplinary actions) by the reciprocal board for past three (3) years.
- There are no time limitations as to how long the license must be held.
- Exceptions:
- California– contractor must be licensed and have no sanctions for 5 years.
- Florida– contractor must have held license/have appropriate experience and have no sanctions for 5 years.
- Nevada– contractor must be licensed and have no sanctions for 4 years.
- Exceptions:
- Each reciprocity agreement between Louisiana and the reciprocal state varies and may not cover ALL classifications/trades. Some agreements may be for only one or two trades.
